Hello Ladies,

 Welcome back to another installment of our chef it up series, and today we’re taking a trip to Italy! That’s right, we’re going to teach you how to make the best homemade spaghetti in less than 30 minutes.

So, go get your chef hat on and let’s get started…

 

First Pasta

 

To make the pasta all you’ll need is …

  • 1 egg
  • All purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp. of salt
  • 3 tbsp. of water

 

  1. In a mixing bowl combine the flour and salt.
  2. Then the slightly add the beaten egg, and mix.
  3. Mix until a stiff dough is forms and if it’s too dry add your tablespoons of water
  4. Next roll out the dough with a pasta machine of by hand
  5. Now cut your pasta into thin spaghetti in a back and forth motion
  6. Set it aside and make the sauce.

 

 

Next Sauce

 

To make the sauce you’ll need…

 

  • 3-4 fresh tomatoes
  • A can of crush tomatoes (about 20oz should work)
  • Olive Oil
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 basil leaves
  • 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon of black pepper

 

  1. Drizzle olive oil into your saucepan and saute the garlic, basil, and bay leaves on medium/high heat—until a golden brown.
  2. Cut up your tomatoes and throw them in the pot and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add in your crushed tomatoes (and make sure to strain the liquid beforehand)
  4. Let it come to a simmer and slowly add in your spices.
  5. Raise the heat, let it come to a slight boil, and give it a taste.

 

Preparing the Dish

  • Now that your sauce is all done, fill a pot halfway with water and let it come to a boil
  • Add a little bit of pasta at a time and let it cook for 3-5 minutes (depending how you like your pasta)
  • Strain your pasta and put it back into the pot—slowly add in your sauce and mix in (add some bay leaves for decor).

 

Eating

  • Plate your pasta and add some parmigiana cheese if you would like—Enjoy Girl!
